In the 25th round, Tinkoff RPL Sochi drew with Lokomotiv – 2:2.
Defender Vanya Drkusic told about what the match was like from the inside in a big interview on our YouTube channel.
– Did you manage to get enough sleep after such a game, how do you feel now?
– There was a little time to sleep. The game turned out to be extremely emotional. Of course, if you score in the 89th minute, everyone is happy, and then you hear that the goal has been canceled. This is far from the most pleasant. I think we showed the maximum, made every effort to win. Unfortunately, we did not succeed.
– What did you do right after the game?
– Nothing special. Just a quiet night. The girl and I returned home, ate pizza. I have received many messages from my friends from Slovenia. Usually after the game I try not to think about football.
– Is it that simple?
– Not at all. Sometimes it's very difficult. Sometimes I can't sleep at all after matches. But it's always easier when you're not alone.
– Let's remember some episodes of yesterday's match? How would you describe the moment with the second missed ball?
– It was a kind of counterattack. They moved the ball to the flank. At first I blocked the shot, but the ball eventually flew to the same player. A second serve followed, there was a misunderstanding between our players, and the opponent managed to distinguish himself and equalize the score – 2:2. These are the moments on which we should concentrate during the game.
– All the fans remember the final episode of the match when you "dragged" the ball out of an empty net. How was it?
– A little intuition, a little luck. At first I thought that the first player would hit the ball, so I tried to cover the goal with the body. Then he rolled to the center, and I was in the right place at the right moment. I am very happy that I was able to help the team save one point. Perhaps the fact that my father was a goalkeeper in the past also played a role. Maybe I got some goalkeeping skills from him. It was a memorable moment for me.
– Did you have any thoughts of playing with your hands or your head?
– No, I won't say that. It was a kind of instinct. Try to knock the ball with your head far away. It turned out to be a cool rescue.
– Did you immediately realize that the ball did not hit the goal and went to the corner?
– In fact, when I just knocked the ball out, what was happening for me switched to the "slow-mo" mode. I looked at the flying ball and said to myself: "Please, not at the gate. Please go to the corner." When Sos came up to me, I began to realize that we had strayed. We didn't miss it, it was a special moment.
– And what did Soslan say to you after this rescue?
– He said in Serbian: "Bravo maestro!". I thanked him again after the game. It was very emotional.
– After the game, someone else probably approached you.
– Everyone came up, said: "Great job! Crazy save! Maybe you will become our new goalkeeper?". A lot of things that were nice to hear. But I'll try to put it in the past. The game is over. We need to focus on the next match.
– What do you say about the fans? Did you hear them?
– The support has been incredible. Every home game I really enjoy playing at our stadium. It's insanely cool. Unfortunately, we couldn't repay the fans with a victory. I hope they will come to future games to support us.
